How to Pack and Move Statues

Statues can be constructed from all kinds of materials and can come in a vast array of sizes and shapes, so each one must be custom-packed and handled accordingly.

As with framed art, the basic materials used to pack most statuary is bubble wrap, foam wrap, shrink wrap, card board, tape and wooden crating. The idea is to cushion the statue in every way possible.

Below is a picture sequence showing the wrapping of one of the expensive small white jade sculptures shown above. First, because it’s a sturdy piece and its edges won’t break off, it is merely wrapped in plenty of paper.

Then, just to be safe, it is further wrapped in foam and boxed up with other heavier small pieces.

Packing and moving statues is not too complicated, but it does require some expert packing skills to keep the fragile items intact during the house move. If you’re not sure how to provide that high level of safety for your delicate statues, as well as other breakables you intend to take with you, then you’d better call in the pro packers.
