After removing a grand piano from a residence, mount it onto a dolly for transport to the truck.

Now push it right up to the truck’s ramp.

Next, aim the butt end of the piano towards the ramp because the other side of the piano (its keyboard) is braced against the piano board’s lip to keep it from slipping off on inclines.

Then just push it up the ramp onto the truck.

Finally, take the piano off of the dolly and double or triple strap it to the truck’s front wall or to the front of one of the truck’s side walls. Don’t attach it to the back of a side wall because it is heavy enough to unbalance most trucks.
When driving a truck with a piano in its cargo area, it is wise to drive very conservatively so that it doesn’t break loose from its restraints.
If you’re not sure how to load your grand piano into the moving truck, or if you don’t have enough helping hands, then do the sensible thing and hire professional piano movers to get the job done quickly and safely.
